My favorite thing about summer is spending time out by my koi pond. I enjoy listening to water rippling through the pond and watching the fish going through their daily activities. I watch their golden, yellow, red and black, and black and white scales shimmer in the sunlight. I enjoy watching them play hide-and-seek among the blooming lemon flowers of the lily pads. A recent addition arrived a couple of days ago: two tiny frogs. They cavort around the lilly pads and onto the rocks surrounding the pond. Their favorite place to land is on the large, ceramic tower of frogs on the edge of the water. I look forward to hearing them during the evening as they grow. As twilight approaches, the solar lights in the water begin to blink and more luminosity glimmers around the pond, this special space becomes more enchanting with sparkles in the water and around me. This is my happy place, with peace and solace embracing me.
